Description
Next Day Delivery Urgent Queen Bees
We have created this listing specifically for our next day availability for queen bees.
If we have stock for next day delivery they will be listed here.
Order Process
If you order before 1pm (Monday to Friday) we will dispatch same day with Royal Mail Special Delivery which is a pre-1pm insured service. For example order on Friday before 1pm, you will receive your queen on Saturday before 1pm.
Delivery Information
Royal mail special delivery is a signed for service, we only send queens with Royal Mail Special delivery as the queens go through hands only rather than machines and receive much greater care than regular post.
Type Information
We have both Northumberland Buckfast and Northumberland Dark Bees available. As this listing is for Urgent Next Day Queens, the type will be available based on what we have in stock at the time.
Our Queen Breeding Information
We are breeders and rearers of queens, not resellers like many queen retailers, all our queens are bred by us in the UK and do well in the conditions presented to them by the UK climate. Our primary aim is to address the shortage of quality home raised queens in the UK and provide buckfast queens for sale from our selected VSH (Varroa Sensitive and Hygienic) stock. We manage 700 mating nucs, supplying queens to both commercial beekeepers and small scale beekeepers.
How to Introduce a New Queen Bee

Terms and Conditions
- Queens found dead on arrival – a photo should be taken and sent via e-mail to sales@northumberlandhoney.co.uk on the day of arrival. The queen must then be returned to us in the original cage and packaging with the contents intact for examination.
- Laying patterns and quality – all queens are checked before being sent, however rarely queens may become drone layers if mating with insufficient numbers of drones due to poor weather etc. Any queens that are reported to be drone layers should be reported to us within 21 days. If a queen is reported to be a drone layer we ask that the queen is returned to us alive for examination in a queen cage with attendents and fondant. Sent by royal mail special delivery. We will then assess the queen, checking the spermatheca and if found to be infertile within 21 days we will send a replacement. In the case of replacements of mated queens, the return postage cost will be borne by the customer, but the replacement queen will be provided free of charge . Queens will only be replaced once and not replaced after 21 days. We cannot be held responsible for any issues during introduction or for the failure of introduction.
- Queen Orders and Orders for bees/ nucleus colonies / package bees are made up of a 15% deposit / cancellation fee. In the event of a cancellation we incur extra costs in adminsitering the cancellation, re-stocking and the work already committed to producing the queen or bees. In the event of a cancellation of a queen or bees (overwintered nucleus colony / packages / summer nucleus colony) you will be refunded 85% of the purchase amount, with the remaining 15% non-returnable being the cancellation fee/ non returnable deposit. If you would like a breakdown of the costs associated with cancellation please ask and we will be happy to provide.

We were fortunate enough to collect a Buckfast swarm from a local farm cottage. We had an empty hive that we took them to, leaving them to settle. We checked on them to see how they were doing, only to find that they were queenless. The first thing I thought of was Northumberland Honey Co.
We ordered the Urgent Queen delivery. Luke and Suzie go the extra mile for their customers. Within minutes of the order on their website, I received a confirmation email. Then I was sent a tracking number. We were able to check the delivery – the information about what to do and how to look after the queen on arrival. Inside the box lid is a pedigree chart that lets you know the strain of bee and which hive it came from.
If you need a bee, honey, or nuc, and you want to receive good, honest customer service, look no further than Northumberland Honey Company. They are the Bee’s Knees.
Andrew Royce –
Queens arrived safely, just as they said, easy to handle and insert into colony, and I will be using them again.

Discovered two hopelessly Queen-less colonies during a weekend inspection. Ordered two Queens late on Sunday evening. Arrived early Tuesday morning. Excellent condition and each with a generous number of attendant worker bees. Securely packaged and showing no sign of stress despite record breaking high temperatures. Good instructions and excellent communications.

It was one of those situations every beekeeper experiences, the suddenly discovered need for a queen. Northumberland Honey Co was the answer to our problem, having a few queens available for urgent dispatch. The order was placed a little before 1pm and the queen duly arrived by post the next morning. Very well packaged and ready for introduction to the colony. We have been buying bees in the form of Nucleus colonies and queens from Northimberland Honey co and have always found them helpful, friendly and knowledgable. I like their ethos for breeding and recommend them unreservedly.
