Here’s a quick video of one of our drone rearing colonies we are bringing to the mating apiary this spring. Features in drone rearing colonies we look for, are docility, excellent overwintering ability with a minimal need for supplementary overwinter feeding, maintaining a good brood nest, clean floors and no signs of disease.

This colony has shown all these features, and although a young queen, she will be brought forward as a drone rearer for the 2023 season.
